As of mid- 2025, the virtual ranking of container liner carriers by country showed some positional changes when compared with the situation of six months earlier. Thailand and Russia dropped one and two places respectively to 17th and 19th, also respectively. These changes almost undid the gains of both noted at the start of the year. Moving up were the UK by one to 18th and Italy by two to 16th, no doubt helped by Messina Line’s conversion from a container-Ro/Ro to full container operator. The twenty-first ranked country is Brazil, with 26,800 TEU, which is some way from 20th ranked Hong Kong and who gained a new carrier in its list, Kawa Shipping.
